The foundation

The “Konstantinos G. Karamanlis” Foundation is an important center for the preservation of historical memory and the advancement of scientific research.

It is a private, not for profit foundation under the Greek law. Its archives illuminate the work of Konstantinos Karamanlis while enriching the historical knowledge on postwar Greece.

Outreach

The main goal of the Foundation is to assist the work of researchers in contemporary history and politics. In that regard, the Historical Archive and the Library are accessible, on a daily basis, to both the specialist and the layperson.

The Foundation hosts, by appointment, special sightseeing tours for interested parties. The tour lasts approximately 90’ and consists of slides show and video screening, a visit to the archive, the library and the small museum.

Since its launch, the Foundation has organized a number of conferences and special events in regards to the life and work of Konstantinos Karamanlis and the history of modern Greece.

The Constantine Karamanlis Chair in Hellenic and European Studies was established in 2001 with the goal of supporting the teaching and research on Greece and its region at the Fletcher School and Tufts University.
