The Konstantinos G. Karamanlis Foundation organized the International Academic Conference entitled “1974–2024: 50 Years since the Transition to Democracy – Democracy Today”, held on 31 October and 1–2 November 2024.
The conference was inaugurated by Mario Monti, Senator for Life and former Prime Minister of Italy, on 31 October 2024 at 19:00.
The programme comprised eight thematic sections covering all major aspects of Greece’s post-dictatorship trajectory, including institutional consolidation, foreign policy and EEC accession, economic development, the evolution of the political system, and ideological transformations within Greek society.
A large number of distinguished scholars from Greece and abroad participated. Opening addresses were delivered by Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos, General Director of the Foundation, and Achilleas Karamanlis, President of the Foundation.
