The Foundation’s Historical Archive has been enriched with the archives of important political figures and close associates of Konstantinos Karamanlis, such as Evangelos Averoff-Tositsas, Konstantinos Papakonstantinou, Georgios Kontogeorgis, Nikolaos Martis, Ioannis Boutos, Gerasimos Apostolatos and Georgios Spentzas. Also included are the archives of Panayis Tsaldaris, Konstantinos Tsaldaris and Lina Tsaldari. The Foundation also houses other important archives and collections of important public figures, such as Anastasios Kanellopoulos with reference to Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, Georgios Daskalakis, Georgios Paravantis, Dionysios Flambouras, Nikolaos Panagiotatos, Alkis Delmouzos, Giannis Marinos and Pavlos Tzermias.
There is also a collection of oral testimonies from people who worked closely with K. Karamanlis or played an important political role during his time in public life.
The available material provides a comprehensive picture of the country’s political life from the interwar period to the 1990s. Critical aspects of the contemporary political, economic, social and cultural history of Greece, Europe and the wider international scene are also highlighted.
The archival material is studied by researchers in accordance with the terms set out in the relevant special regulations. A basic prerequisite for the use of the documents is that they are not subject to the rule of state classified material, which applies to public documents from the last 30 years. The primary material of the Historical Archive has already been used by many scholars and young researchers, making the Foundation a point of reference for Greek and international historiography on post-war Greece.
